Description
Pulteney Bridge and Weir : Catalogue No. 022
This is the side of Robert Adams bridge most people see, I wonder how many notice that it is no longer symmetrical. The left side of the bridge was altered in 1895 when the number of shops on this side were reduced to enable the junction with Grand Parade and High Street. The original weir was re-built in 1972 which, together with a sluice gate, helps to control river flooding.
